The program begins on Sunday with the Dress of the Cross
As every year before the arrival of the month of May, Benidorm prepares to live one of its most traditional and ingrained celebrations, Festa de la Creu, which will start on Sunday, April 30 at 10 pm with the Dress of The Creu in charge of the 'mayoralas' of the festive entity, chaired by Paqui Calvo.
The event will be enlivened by Colla de Xirimiters de la Marina and will be held in Plaza de la Cruz, better known as La Palmera. There will be given to the attendants with 'coca roñosa' and mistela. Once dressed, the Creu will be placed in its fixed location at the beginning of Emilio Ortuño Avenue.
The next day, May 1, the program of events opens at 08.00 hours with a general turn of bells and a pasacalle next to the Colla de Xirimiters. About 11.00 am, a pilgrimage will begin from the parish church of Santa Jaume i Santa Ana to the feet of the Cross, which will be blessed by the priest parish priest.
Afterwards, the girl Rosa Navarro Almiñana will recite the traditional verse to the Santa Creu, and later there will be a flower offering to the church where a mass will be sung by the Choir of the ACR La Barqueta. Already in the afternoon, at 7:00 pm, a concert in two parts is scheduled by the Musical Union, directed by Pedro Salinas, and which will hear five pieces of different composers.
The program closes on Wednesday, May 3 at 7 pm with the mass of the deceased in the church of Sant Jaume and Santa Ana in memory of all the deceased of Benidorm.
