The Municipal Branch is already operating in this space, which housed the old courts
Benidorm moves the Consumer Information Office (OMIC) to its new location on Beniardá Avenue this Friday
Starting this Friday, April 10, the Municipal Consumer Information Office (OMIC) will operate from its new location: 12 Beniardá Avenue, in the former courthouse. This was announced today by the Councillor for Consumer Affairs, Mónica Gómez, who noted that “the municipal branch for the Foietes-Colonia Madrid neighbourhood has been operating in these same premises for just over two months.”
The councilor explained that “in these new premises on Beniardá Avenue, the OMIC will have a larger space to serve citizens who require its advice or assistance.”
Gómez reiterated that the OMIC is “a free service provided by the City Council that informs and guides consumers about their rights and how to exercise them, and mediates in disputes that may arise between consumers and companies that provide goods, services, or supplies.” Ultimately, if the parties cannot reach an agreement, the Consumer Information Office (OMIC) is responsible for referring complaints to the Consumer Arbitration Board.
In addition to the municipal branch and the OMIC, the City Council also plans to relocate other public services to this new municipal headquarters on Beniardá Avenue, which will be specified in the coming months. The future installation of the Citizen Service Office (PROP) is also planned for these premises, which the City Council has managed since May 2025.
It was in that year that Benidorm received the transfer from the Generalitat (Valencian regional government) of these eleven premises on Beniardá Avenue, where the city's courts were located until the construction of the Palace of Justice. These premises occupy an area of approximately 1,250 square meters and have remained closed and unused for more than a decade, due to the refusal of the previous regional administration, led by the PSOE and Compromís parties, to transfer them to the municipality, as the City Council repeatedly requested.
