Benidorm installs lighting on Bernat de Sarrià avenue to improve road safety
Benidorm City Council will install public lighting on Bernat de Sarriá avenue in the coming weeks to improve road safety in this section, which runs between the intersection with Toledo Avenue and the intersection with Severo Ochoa.
The councilman of Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, has indicated that "in spite of not having a lot of traffic on this road, it has been detected that the vehicles circulate in many cases at excessive speed, which makes it necessary to adopt measures to increase the security in this important point of connection between the Rincón de Loix and the Albir area ".
De Zárate explained that "the first action is the installation of public lighting, a measure included in the 2017 municipal budget at the proposal of the municipal group Ciudadanos (Cs)". The placement of public lighting in this stretch of just over a kilometer has involved an investment of 39,837.74 euros, and in its configuration the Energy Efficiency Regulation has been applied.
The head of Mobility has indicated that "we have opted for 37 points of light with overhead power lines so that in the future, once the sector is redeveloped, it can be dismantled and reused in other areas."
For his part, the deputy spokesman of Cs, Juan Balastegui, said that "we are pleased that they will put lighting on this avenue, as we included in the budget agreement signed last March." "We also hope that you take advantage of this action to install, urgently, devices to reduce speed in the curve closest to Assagador de la Torreta to avoid accidents."
In this regard, the councilman of Mobility has clarified that "once installed the public lighting, it is planned to place speed reducers"; and also implement the bike lane, action that was collected in a motion of September Cs 2015.
