Benidorm Cultural complements the city's tourist and leisure offer
Benidorm expands its summer program with concerts, theater, cinema and art in the streets
The councilor of the area, Jaime Jesús Pérez, has pointed out that all the shows "will be free", although "with limited capacity by the spaces and by the indications of the health authorities". In this sense, Benidorm Cultural will extend throughout the urban fabric of Benidorm. Specifically, in the Assembly Hall of the City Council, Julio Iglesias auditorium, Sant Jaume and Santa Anna Church, Óscar Esplá amphitheater, l’Hort de Colón gardens and Foietes Park. Likewise, there will be exhibitions at the ‘espai d’art urbà’ in Ponent, Els Tolls, El Carrasco; Espai d’Art in the City Hall lobby, Plaza de la Hispanidad and in La Caixa tent on Paseo de Levante.
A 'Skyline' of cinema
Jaime Jesús Pérez has recalled that, until July 3, the day on which its closing and the awards ceremony will take place, the viewings and debates of the fifth edition of the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival will continue and "with its cinema debates" .
The seventh art will also be the protagonist of the screenings of 'Cinema d'Estiu' in Julio Iglesias auditorium with a comedy by Santiago Segura 'Padre no hay más que uno', on August 8, and the French animation film 'Pets', on the 28th of the same month. Both at 9:30 p.m.
Giving the musical note
July will be the month of the XXXII International Music Course and the XXII Benidorm Music Competition. There will be daily concerts in the municipal Assembly Hall, from July 4 to 9 at 9:00 p.m. There will be also the Concerts d'Estiu that this year the three bands of the city will perform at Julio Iglesias at 9:00 pm: Societat Musical l’Illa, on July 7; the Symphonic Band of Unió Musical, on July 18; and the Societat Musical La Nova, on August 1. La Rondalla of ACR ‘La Barqueta’ will perform in Sant Jaume and Santa Anna on Friday 23 at 9:00 p.m.
Light music also has its place at Benidorm Cultural with a recital by Manuel Catalán Chana, Marlene Aquino and Marco Antonio at Óscar Esplá on July 27 at 9:00 p.m. For its part, El Hort de Colón will dedicate Thursdays to chamber music, clarinet and saxophone music with recitals that will begin at 8:00 p.m.
Curtain rises
The little ones will be able to enjoy Teatre d'Estiu on Fridays, July 2 and 30, which will be staged in Foietes Park 'Los animales agradecidos' and 'Las historias del señor Plot' and, in August, at Hort de Colón on Thursdays 5, 12 and 19 there will be magic shows specially designed for them, they will be on Thursdays in the afternoon, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. depending on the show.
Benidorm, a city museum
Until July 14, the espai d’art urbà in Ponent, Els Tolls and Carrasco and Plaza de la Hipanidad, will host the exhibition of film posters from the Skiline Benidorm Film Festival. From the 6th to the 26th of the same month, the Espai d’Art of the City Council will exhibit the advertising posters from 1983 to the present of Benidorm International Music Course. The same space will host a painting exhibition by José Miguel Rivera Otero.
Finally, at the junction of Avenida de Europa and Paseo de Levante, from July 29 to August 26, you can visit the exhibition ‘Picassso. El viaje de Guernica ’, in the tent of‘ La Caixa ’. An exhibition held in collaboration with Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía.
