Benidorm celebrates on Sunday the traditional animal blessing of Sant Antoni
Benidorm celebrates this Sunday, January 20, the traditional blessing of animals on the occasion of the festival of Sant Antoni, which annually brings together residents of La Huerta and the entire city in the Hermitage of Sanç. A blessing that will take place after the Mass to be officiated at the Hermitage at 10.30 am and that will culminate the acts that have been scheduled in honor of the patron saint of the animals from the Department of Fiestas with the support of the commissions of Sant Isidre and El Roser, the parade of the Three Wise Men of the Hermitage, Penya Ganduls and the neighbors of the Huerta.
The mayor of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles, said that "one more year, in the absence of a commission of Sant Antoni, the Department and these entities have assumed the reins of the festival to maintain this traditional celebration in Benidorm and so linked to the Huerta, we hope that next year will have members of the Fiestas Commission to ensure its continuity and to encourage a more extensive program of events. "
The acts of Sant Antoni start on Thursday 17 at 20.30 with a solemn mass. On Saturday, January 19, at 11.00 hours will be played several games of 'pilota' Valenciana in the Trinquet 'Vicent Pérez Devesa'. In the afternoon, at 5:00 pm, the traditional pilgrimage and offering will be held in honor of Sant Antoni; and at 8:00 pm a party will begin at the Hermitage.
