Benidorm carries out infrastructure renovation and improvement works on Roma Avenue

The Department of the Water Cycle of Benidorm City Council, is carrying out hydraulic infrastructure renovation works on Roma Avenue, which affect the collection of rainwater, drinking water and wastewater and the improvement of the aesthetics of the road, with the aim of putting an end to the floods suffered by the locals in the area in episodes of heavy rains.

The main action, consisting of the redevelopment of Roma Avenue and the renovation of all urban services, represents an investment of 492,000 euros, charged to the Renewal Fund of the contract of the concessionaire company of the Comprehensive Water Management in the city , Hydraqua.

Mayor Toni Pérez and the Councilor for the Water Cycle, José Ramón González de Zárate, have visited the works accompanied by the technical managers. There, Pérez has highlighted the importance of it since "in these streets there was no rainwater collection system". With the implementation of the new system "rainwater will be captured at a higher level to avoid the flooding problems that this area has historically had."

The intervention that is being carried out also entails other actions in the form of improvements incorporated into the work, which add up to around 200,000 euros. Among them is the improvement of the sanitation network on Paris street with the renovation of a collector between Ametlla de Mar and Stockholm (26,400 euros), another investment in the stormwater network of London street for 103,800 euros, improvements in the Drinking water network of Mónaco street for a value of 46,000 euros and other renovations in the drinking water and drainage network for almost 30,000 euros.

"This redevelopment also entails improvements in urban services, such as new paving and greater accessibility of these roads that connect the upper part of Rincón with the lower part in Ametlla de Mar" explained the mayor.

The non-existence of a rainwater collection system has always caused numerous damages in the commercial premises of Ametlla de Mar. With the execution of these works "we are going towards Montecarlo Avenue and we equip receivers and scuppers that reduce the impacts that can cause the rains.

The mayor has highlighted that, once again, "we put the municipal resources, in this case related to the water cycle, to benefit the residents of all the neighborhoods of the city".
