Benidorm allocates 90,000 euros in subsidies to entities that promote the integration of the most disadvantaged groups
The Local Government Board of Benidorm City Council has today approved the basis of a new call for annual aid aimed at local non-profit entities and associations that carry out therapeutic and rehabilitative activities, which promote better integration of the most disadvantaged or vulnerable groups in the social-health field. The Councillor for Social Welfare, Ángela Zaragozí, has explained that with this line of aid the Council “renews its commitment to local groups that work daily to improve the quality of life of people and groups that require special attention, thus promoting integration and equal opportunities”. The City Council is going to allocate 90,000 euros for these grants, with which a maximum of 12,000 euros can be subsidized for each entity that opts for them, for activities carried out between November 1, 2023, and October 31, 2024, as Ángela Zaragozí recalled. The deadline to apply for the grant will open the day after the publication of the bases in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante (BOP) and will end after 15 calendar days.
As for the requirements to be able to participate in the call, the Councillor for Social Welfare has explained that the entities or associations will have to be legally constituted and registered in the Registry of Associations of the Benidorm City Council at least six months before the publication of the bases and their action will take place within the municipality of Benidorm, "in the health, functional diversity and social services field, to develop programs of general interest aimed at affected people and their families".
Likewise, they must have a stable, active and open social headquarters with demonstrable opening hours in the municipality or serve the population registered and residents in Benidorm in another location. They must also carry out activities aimed at improving the quality of life of the affected people, be up to date with their tax obligations and with Social Security and with Benidorm City Council, as well as have justified any subsidy granted by the City Council in the 2023 year.
The destination of the subsidy will be "projects, of general and social interest, aimed at people with functional diversity or in a situation of dependency or with chronic diseases or victims of any type of violence or sexual abuse, and must demonstrate the social benefit that their development entails, as well as the specific actions that will be put in place to achieve this end" the councillor specified. The activities must have a therapeutic and/or rehabilitative nature. With the amounts granted, the City Council will contribute to financing the expenses of the personnel who carry out these therapies or actions, up to 90% of their cost or a maximum of 12,000 euros. This aid will be compatible with other subsidies, income or resources for the same purpose from any public or private administration.
A technical committee will be responsible for evaluating each application, based on established requirements and according to the principles of publicity, transparency, competition, objectivity, equality and non-discrimination.
