Aspanion celebrates its III 'Trophy for a smile'

Aspanion celebra su III ‘Trofeo por una sonrisa’

The association claims that all Autonomous Communities offer palliative care at home for children with cancer

The local association Aspanion, the Association of parents of children with cancer, today has celebrated the third edition of the 'Trophy for a smile' in the sports city of Guillermo Amor in Benidorm, where hundreds of people have been displaced to collaborate with this day solidarity event of a playful and sport nature organized by the organization with the support of the Councils of Social Welfare and Sports.

In addition to a raffle, today thre have been workshops, games and inflatables for the little ones; a triangular football match between the veterans of Benidorm, Alicante and Hércules; and football matches among children from local schools of the city. There has been a match between a selection of politicians of the local corporation and  Atletico Madrid football club; and the trophy 'Alejandro Morcuende' has been delivered to the young Alba Hernández Olivo.

The mayor, Toni Pérez; the councilors of Social Welfare and Sports, Angela Llorca and Ana Pellicer; as well as representatives of various political groups have wanted to accompany Aspanion in this event that have also had its claim. Thus, during the day and after keeping a minute of silence for the small ones who have died as a result of the cancer, the local president of the entity, Fran Morcuende, and a young woman have read a manifesto in which they have asked that the children and teenagers afflicted by this disease of any Autonomous Community may have pediatric palliative care at home.

Aspanion vice president Bernardo García Blanquer recalled the role of the organization, congratulated the local group for their work and added that no one understands better the needs of children with cancer and their families than those affected. The mayor, for his part, has valued the work of Aspanion in giving visibility to the situation that many families and small children, and stressed that the consolidation year by year of the Trophy for a smile.

The curious point of the day has been the Star Wars parade that has raised much expectation between the small and adults, who have been able to take pictures with the best known characters of this fiction.
