A Weekend of intense musical activity in Benidorm
Benidorm will experience two days of intense cultural activity this weekend, thanks to the concerts that two of its large musical groups have scheduled, Unión Musical de Benidorm and Societat Musical La Nova, within the activities they are carrying out to mark the celebration of Santa Cecilia and the Christmas holidays. This is what the Councilor for Culture of Benidorm City Council has advanced, Jaime Jesús Pérez, who has thanked both entities for “their efforts to keep the flame of music alive in our city” and has invited citizens to delight in participating as an audience in some of these recitals, all of them free and conditional on the capacity of their respective stages.
Regarding the events scheduled by Unión Musical, the first of them will be this Saturday, at 7:30 p.m., in the Assembly Hall of the City Hall, with a concert by the 'Brass Band', within the Conference Musician-Cultural in Honor of Saint Cecilia. Under the direction of Rafa Gómez, in the first part of the concert, they will perform the works La Mourisque, by Tylman Susato; Capriol Suite, by Peter Warlock with arrangements by José Fernando García Iborra, with the pieces Basse-Danse, Pavane, Tordion, Pieds-en-l'air and Mattachins; and October, by Eric Whitacre with arrangements by David J. Miller. In the second part of the recital, Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral, by R. Wagner with arrangements by Alwyn Green; Fogo da Mulata, by Enrique Crespo; Three Brass Cats, by Chris Hazell, with the pieces Mr. Jums, Black Sam, Borage and Another car; and, finally, Kraken Blue, by Thomas Gansch.
Likewise, the Youth Band of the Benidorm Musical Union will offer this Sunday, at 11 a.m. in the Plaza Mayor, another concert within the Santa Cecilia Music-Cultural Days, in which eleven new musicians will also join: Marc Rodríguez Pallarés (Clarinet), Pablo Talavera Benimeli (Clarinet), María Morán de Vega (Flute), Àngela García Francés (Flute), Marcos García Vidal (Oboe), Rodrigo José Alonso Ramón (Trombone), Gabriel Dompedro Coque (Tuba), Aitor Scott Londoño Pérez (Percussion), Mireia López Pérez (Bassoon), Ana Carbonell Zaragoza (Cello) and Oliver Ibáñez Romero (French horn).
For its part, La Nova de Benidorm Musical Societat has scheduled for this Saturday, at 8:30 p.m., the Christmas Concert of the Band and Choir of the Music School of this entity, which will take place in the church of La Almudena. Under the direction of Francisco José Rovira, the program of this concert, the last of the year planned by such an entity, is made up of traditional Spanish Christmas carols from other countries around the world. In the first part of the concert, the School Band will perform and in the second part, the vocal group, choir and School band will perform.
On the other hand, this Friday, at 6 p.m., the Assembly Hall of Benidorm City Council will also host another Christmas Concert, this case, starring the performers Manuel Catalán Chana, Cristina Cosio and Marlene Aquino.
