The action, which covers several municipalities, aims to raise awareness and promote the need to be co-responsible in domestic tasks and care

The Valencian Government's 'Co-responsibility is caring' campaign arrives in Benidorm

26 September 2024
Llega a Benidorm la campaña ‘Corresponsabilidad es querer’ de la Generalitat Valenciana

The travelling campaign ‘Co-responsibility is caring’ launched by the Department of Social Services, Equality and Housing, through the General Directorate of Equality and the Women’s Institute, has arrived today in Benidorm to raise awareness among the citizens of the Valencian Community so that conciliation is achieved in a co-responsible way, harmonising the different spheres of life and involving in a more balanced way the people involved in the distribution of domestic and family responsibilities, especially men.

The campaign that landed today in Benidorm, and that will move to several municipalities in the Community, aims to “raise awareness and promote among the general public the need to be co-responsible in domestic tasks and care while simultaneously working” said Mayor Toni Pérez, who visited it, together with the Councillor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, and several members of the local government. There they met with the regional secretary for Equality and Diversity, Asunción Quinzá, and the general director of Equality and the Women's Institute, Davinia Bono.

The mayor stressed that this is the first campaign of this type carried out by the Generalitat and aims, among other things, to "inform citizens of the meaning of co-responsibility in the reconciliation of family and work life, to value the work of care, to promote the profession of women and to demystify that they are responsible for domestic and care tasks and to publicize the reconciliation policies that the Generalitat Valenciana is carrying out."

Pérez stressed that in this issue "a lot has been done, a lot of progress has been made, but there is still a lot to do" and he advocated that "from the administrations, we must generate everything in our hands to develop this co-responsibility."

The campaign consists of a ‘co-responsible caravan’ travelling with the creative image of the campaign, through the so-called ‘Correspontour’, which travels to various municipalities setting up the scenery of a family home’s living-dining room and interviewing citizens, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., to inform them of the meaning of a co-responsible home, as well as the policies of conciliation and co-responsibility that are being carried out by the Consell. In short, co-responsibility and conciliation is a matter for all the people who make up the family unit.”
