"It is a purely administrative matter; rescue, lifeguard and cleaning services are guaranteed," she said

Gómez: “The technicians are assessing whether the extension of the beach contract is appropriate and the government will follow their instructions as always”

26 September 2024
Mónica Gómez concejala de Playas del Ayuntamiento de Benidorm

The Councillor for Beaches of Benidorm City Council, Mónica Gómez, has indicated to the socialist group that “it will be the technicians, as always, who will tell us whether an extension of the contract for the management of the beaches is appropriate”. The councillor has thus responded to the press release issued today by the opposition group, which criticised the government for not attending to the concessionaire's claim to extend the contract due to the pandemic.

“It is a purely administrative matter” stated Gómez, who has reiterated to the socialist group that “as we always do, we will follow the instructions given to us by the technicians. We will never act against their criteria”.

In any case, the Councillor for Beaches has assured that “what should matter to the opposition is that the rescue, lifeguard and cleaning services are guaranteed and there is no doubt about that”. At this point, Mónica Gómez regretted that the PSOE had described the situation of the beaches as a “chaotic summer”, something that she flatly denied while criticising the socialists for “only tarnishing the image of the city with such an important and delicate issue as the beaches”. “Everyone has been able to see that they have worked perfectly” concluded the councillor.
