‘Higo Mítico’, from Gastrobar Urban Beach, wins the award for best cocktail at the III Benidorm Cocktail Competition

‘Higo Mítico’, de Gastrobar Urban Beach, se alza con el premio al mejor cocktail en el III Concurso de Cocktails de Benidorm

‘Higo Mítico’ cocktail from the Urban Beach gastro bar, created by Luis Antonio Cubillana, has today won the Best Cocktail 2024 Award at the III Benidorm Cocktail Competition, the penultimate activity on the Benidorm Gastronómico calendar this year. It so happens that its creator and the establishment already obtained the highest award in last year's edition. The creation has been worthy of the trophy and the certificate. It was presented today in El Torrejó building, in an event attended by the mayor, Toni Pérez, and members of the local government. Among the guests was also the president of the Hospitality Association of Spain, José Luis Yzuel.

The award for the Best Non-Alcoholic Cocktail has gone to ‘Diva Fusión’, from the Diva 15 establishment, while the Special Mention of the Public for the Most Popular Cocktail has gone to ‘Nemo’ from the Mía Social Club establishment. The event also saw a raffle of six vouchers among voters to be exchanged for a cocktail from those entered into the competition at the fourteen participating establishments.

Before the awards ceremony, Abreca's representative, Alex Frattini, highlighted the "great satisfaction" among clients and consumers, as well as "the enormous success of this initiative, which has already been consolidated" and which this year has managed to sell more than 2,000 cocktails. Frattini also thanked the participants, the jury and the sponsor for their "involvement" in this competition and highlighted the presence of José Luis Yzuel at the event's awards ceremony.

Specifically, Yzuel addressed those present to highlight that "hoteliers contribute to making the sector better." The president of the hotel and catering association congratulated "the participants and winners" and expressed his joy "whenever I am in Benidorm, which is not a few times."

The award ceremony was closed by the mayor of the city, who stressed that “the cocktail is here to stay” to highlight the consolidation of the competition. Toni Pérez added that this type of drink “attracts, attracts customers, creates an atmosphere in the establishment and provides distinction”.

The mayor also insisted that gastronomy “is one of the most powerful hallmarks of our tourism industry” and announced that the award-winning cocktails “will form part of the menu of their establishments”, which he congratulated for “making this edition grow”.

The mayor also had a few words for José Luis Yzuel, “a friend of Benidorm with whom I am delighted to be, who has stood up for our restaurateurs for a long time”.  "Benidorm is grateful you were here” concluded Pérez.
