The two second grade classes will be awarded with checks for the purchase of school supplies
Two classes from the CEIP Ausiàs March win the EDUSI mural contest of Benidorm City Council
After the popular vote on the Instagram profile of EDUSI Benidorm, the winners of the school contest 'Let's paint the Europe we want' are now known. The 2nd A class of the CEIP Ausiàs March, with 585 votes, are the winners with their mural "Sustainable City", which recreates the streets of Benidorm. Second place went to class 2ºB from the same school, which prepared the mural “A sustainable world, a lot of possibilities”. Both classes will be rewarded for their efforts with a check for school supplies: 300 euros for the winning class and 200 euros for second place.
"With this contest, the CEIP Ausiàs March second grade students have shown with great creativity that they are aware of making Benidorm a more sustainable city," said the mayor of Benidorm Toni Pérez. “We are very proud of the participation of both classes and we also rewarded them with these two checks for school supplies.”
The winning mural, "Sustainable City", recreates the public space pointing out some of the EDUSI actions, such as the renovated green areas, the renovation of LED streetlights and the accessibility ramps. The 2nd-grade students also highlight other characteristics that make Benidorm a sustainable city, such as waste recycling, bike lanes and public transport.
The 2nd B students decided to dedicate their mural, "A sustainable world, a lot of possibilities" to remember the importance of adopting habits that respect the planet, such as using public transport, renewable energies or separating the waste into the five containers. The centrepiece is the planet Earth, topped by wind power mills.
"Let's paint the Europe we want" is one of the school competitions that we organized last Europe Day from the Department of Education of Benidorm City Council, to bring EDUSI closer to our boys and girls," explained the mayor Toni Pérez. “The student work shows that our younger neighbours know the importance of sustainability, but also adults do. We have received more than 900 votes, another success of citizen participation in the EDUSI of Benidorm.”
The contest 'Let's paint the Europe we want, organized by Benidorm City Council, sought to introduce the DUSI Strategy and its actions to first-year primary school students. The students had to make a collaborative mural using the support and materials that they wanted. More than 900 people have participated in the popular vote on the EDUSI Benidorm Instagram profile.
