Only 20 Spanish archaeological sites have the TUR4all award, granted by the state platform Impulsa Igualdad

The Tossal de la Cala de Benidorm obtains the seal that accredits it as an accessible site

El Tossal de la Cala de Benidorm obtiene el sello que lo acredita como yacimiento accesible

El Tossal de la Cala de Benidorm has obtained the TUR4all seal that accredits it as an accessible site granted by the state platform Impulsa Igualdad, former Predif. This was announced today by the Councilor for Historical Heritage, Ana Pellicer, who explained that “the platform's team of experts has assessed the measures and resources implemented by the City Council in El Tossal de la Cala to ensure that all people can enjoy "to complete the visit to the Roman 'castellum' and access information about the site."

Among the resources provided by Impulsa Igualdad are the audio guides created by the City Council - available in Spanish, Valencian and English -, the availability of self-propelled wheelchairs for people with mobility problems, the possibility of managing the parking of vehicles for people with mobility reduced next to the site or the existence of adapted public bathrooms.

The person in charge of Historical Heritage has highlighted that "in every one of the different phases of the project for the museum we have been adopting and implementing measures for accessibility to guarantee full access to the site." Thus, in addition to those already mentioned, the mayor has recalled the installation of glass balustrades in the two viewpoints of El Tossal to "make it easier for people who are in wheelchairs to enjoy the spectacular views of Benidorm from the hill." ”; or the generation of pedestrian routes within the site itself.

Pellicer has stressed that "Tossal de la Cala joins the short list of only 20 archaeological sites in all of Spain certified with the TUR4all seal", a distinction that "also has other municipal resources linked to local historical heritage such as the Boca Museum of the Calvari or l'Hort de Colón”.

In the next few days, it is expected that the TUR4all seal and the QR code provided by Impulsa Igualdad will be installed at the access to Tossal de la Cala, in which anyone can access and consult objective information about the accessibility conditions offered by this tourist service.

Finally, Pellicer stressed, “Benidorm's absolute and permanent commitment to accessibility, both in the services offered and when designing and configuring our urban scene, and which we also share with the private sector.” So much so that “around a hundred public and private resources in the city have the Impulsa Igualdad accessibility badge”; among them, the tourist offices, the Foreign Tourism Assistance Service (SATE), the Foietes and l'Aigüera parks, the beach library, the central library or the routes that lead to La Cruz and Torre de les Caletes.
