The mayor reaffirms that the City Council is willing to receive the facilities and summons the director of the entity to hand over the keys next Monday 'in situ'

Toni Pérez tells the SPTCV that "Benidorm wants the cultural center now"

Toni Pérez traslada a la SPTCV que “Benidorm quiere el centro cultural ya”

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has informed the Thematic Projects Society of the Valencian Community (SPTCV) that the city "wants the cultural centre now". In a press conference, Toni Pérez responded in these terms to the letter sent yesterday by the general director of the SPTCV, and has stressed that "we want to use the cultural centre now because it is already well with delays and epistles".

After referring to the "loyal commitment" and the collaboration displayed by the city to make the first phase of the cultural centre a reality, the mayor stressed that the City Council is willing to receive these facilities.

Hence, he has summoned the person in charge of the SPTCV to meet next Monday, May 30, at noon, at the facilities and has asked him to come to this meeting "with the key" of the cultural centre. An appointment in which the mayor has suggested that the groups of the Corporation, the technicians of both administrations, the direction of the conservatories of Benidorm and all the people who estimate it also participate.

"If that work is finished and it is the City Council that does not want to receive it - Toni Pérez stressed - it is as simple as the general director of the SPTCV coming on Monday with the key because the mayor of Benidorm will be there to receive it".

During his appearance, the mayor has declined to assess "the tone" of the latest communication from the person in charge of the SPTCV and has been forceful in stating that Benidorm wants to have the facilities of the cultural centre as soon as possible. At this point, he has stressed that the City Council has already acquired the furniture, computer equipment and a batch of new instruments for the 'José Pérez Barceló' Municipal Music Conservatory, which together with the Dance Conservatory will be located in the new building.

Toni Pérez recalled that in order to reach an agreement with the Generalitat that would allow the project to resume, "this City Council lowered its claims and made a great effort not to demand the entire cultural centre", accepting development in phases and "accommodating" this “reality to possibilities” mode. As a result of this agreement, embodied in an agreement, a first phase arose that corresponds to 25% of the original project and that included the construction of a smaller room with around 500 seats, approved facilities for the conservatories, as well as the treatment of the facades and roofs of all these areas.
