The symphonic band of the Musical Union of Benidorm has paid tribute this afternoon to its former president Jaime Jesús Pérez Linares, in a concert framed in the 'Campanya Música als Pobles', which has been held in the Óscar Esplá auditorium of the Parque de l' Aigüera, with the collaboration of the Provincial Council of Alicante.
The tribute concert, directed by Oswaldo Olmos, has been a resounding success, as has been verified with a full house in the venue, in which the mayor Toni Pérez, and numerous members of the local corporation have gathered.
The act, presented by Esperanza Rostoll, has begun with a review of the life of Jaime Jesús Pérez, his entry and career in the Musical Union and his successes at the head of it, such as the award and honorable mention in 2005 in the Contest Provincial de Pinoso, the album of '10 years of festive music in Benidorm' and another with Manolo Escobar.
Rostoll recalled that the honoree promoted the symphonic band, which was a very active part of the city's Festes Patronals and had a personality "that marked dozens of students and musicians".
Between the first and second part of the concert, an emotional act took place in which the Benidorm Musical Union posthumously awarded him the distinction of honorary president of the entity, as well as the premiere of a pasodoble that bears the name of she. Her children Jaime Jesús and Teresa have received the scores for this new work from the Musical Union.
In the first part of the concert, the pasodoble 'Athenaeum' by Enrique Alborch, the pasodoble 'Al de Romano' by José Vicente Algado and Gustav Holst's work 'Second suite in F for military band' were performed. In the second part, the works by Rafael Talens 'Tercio de Quiles' and 'Cançons de mare III' have been performed. Baix el pont de Cullera' and the piece 'Poet and villager' by Franz von Suppé.
At the end of the act, the pasodoble 'Jaime Jesús Pérez Linares' was performed again, this time directed by its composer, Rafael Gómez.
