Swimmers from 35 countries dispute the Oceanman final in the waters of Benidorm Bay
This international championship has consisted of seven open water events around the world
The last stage of the Oceanman 2017 has been celebrated this morning in the waters of the Bay of Benidorm. The organization, which has had the collaboration of the Department of Sports, has proposed for the edition of this international championship of open water, the dispute of seven events throughout the year and in places as picturesque as Putrajaya (Malaysia), Island of Tabarca (Spain), Sochi (Russia), Lake d'Orta (Italy), Oytilo Bay (Greece), Cozumel (Mexico) and Benidorm Island.
More than a thousand participants, from 35 countries, participated this morning in the departure of a competition that has taken momentary possession of the Mal Pas beach. The championship has consisted in the realization of three tests: 'Oceanman', with a distance of 9,3 KM with exit and arrival in the beach of Mal Pas; 'Half Oceanman', 5.5 KM and departure from the Island of Benidorm; and the 'Popular' of 1.5 KM, also with departure and arrival in the Mal Pas.
The Councilor for Sports, Arturo Cabrillo; the councillor of Equality, Paquita Ripoll; and members of the organization have been in charge of delivering the awards to the participants in a ceremony that, with some delay over the schedule, has begun after 14:15 p.m.
