More than 20 groups participate in the parade, organized by the Association of Penyes
The smallest of Benidorm enjoy the Children's Carnival
‘'Cruella de Vil' catwalk has been the winning group costume of the Children's Carnival that, like every year, is organized by the Associació de Penyes Verge del Sofratge with the collaboration of the Department of Fiestas. More than 20 groups and individual costumes have participated in the parade opened by the Queen of the Festes Patronals, Chloe D'Hebboudt, and her Court of Honour, and which from Escuelas school has travelled through Ruzafa and Herrerías streets and Plaza of SSMM Kings of Spain to culminate in Julio Iglesias auditorium of Parque de l'Aigüera.
The mayor, Toni Pérez, together with the Councilor for Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles; the Adult and Child Queens, Aila Merenciano and Chloe D'Hebbout; the president of the Penyes Association, Adrián Romero; and the president of the Commission of Festes Majors Patronals, José Vicente Fuster; has delivered the prizes to the winners of the two contest categories: Individual and Groups. All the winners have received vouchers redeemable in the Base stores and a trophy.
The jury has awarded the second prize in the group category, valued at 200 euros, to 'Swan Lake'; while 'Mario Bross' has obtained third place and 100 euros in bonuses. In the Individual category, the prizes have been for the costume 'The Tree of Childhood' -100 euros-, followed by 'Marine World' -75 euros- and 'Princess Merida and her mother Eleanor of her' -50 euros-.
After the parade and before the awards ceremony, a concert with the best songs from the Disney universe took place in Julio Iglesias auditorium in Parque de l'Aigüera.
Tonight, starting at 9:00 p.m., the Adult Carnival will be held, which will have the same route as the Children's Carnival and in which 28 groups and 3 individual costumes participate.
