SM L'Illa Big Band, protagonist this Wednesday of the Concerts at Castell cycle
The Bing Band of the Societat Musical L'Illa de Benidorm will be the protagonist this Wednesday of the second of the concerts programmed by the Department of Culture of Benidorm City Council, within the 'Concerts al Castell' cycle. The councillor of the department, Jaime Jesús Pérez, explained that “after a magnificent first concert by La Nova, this Wednesday we will once again enjoy another high-level concert, in this case, by the metal and percussion band of L “Illa.”
The concert, titled 'Benidorm Swing Summer Night', will begin at 9:30 p.m. in the Plaza de Castelar, and is open to the public with free entry. In this way “we fulfil two of the objectives of the Department of Culture, which are to bring culture closer to people and, at the same time, promote the talent and quality of our bands,” highlighted Jaime Jesús Pérez.
Within the program of this concert, dedicated to swing, the L'Illa Big Band will perform songs such as Ain't Misbehavin' (1929), by Thomas Waller and Harry Brooks; Chameleon (1973), by Herbie Hancock, Paul Jackson and Harvey Mason; Ringo Rango (2022), by Josep Antón Alemany; Unforgettable (1951), by Roger Holmes; Downtown Tango (2016), by Rick Hirsch; Get Ready (1966), by William 'Smokey' Robinson, as well as another dozen songs from the 20th and 19th centuries. All this, under the direction of Josep Cano i Gracià.
The Councilor for Culture has encouraged residents and tourists to “come to Plaça del Castell to experience another night of good music in a privileged place”, as well as “to consult all the programming contained in the Benidorm Cultural so as not to miss any of the “music and theatre cycles and proposals planned for this summer.”
The next 'Concerts al Castell' concert will be next Wednesday, July 31. On this occasion by Brass Band of the Unión Musical.
