El Centro de Interpretación de la Séquia Mare recibe las primeras visitas de escolares

The centre is open to the public from Tuesday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.; on Saturdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and on Sundays, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Interpretation Centre at Séquia Mare Park, which opened its doors last Friday, has already welcomed its first groups of schoolchildren from Benidorm. The visits were scheduled before the official opening, highlighting the interest this new facility has generated in showcasing the town’s hydraulic, ethnographic, and cultural heritage.

The centre is also open to the general public. The facility celebrates the history of water and its importance in Benidorm’s past and present, as well as its role in shaping the future for generations to come.

You can visit the Interpretation Centre Tuesday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. On Saturdays, it is open from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

José Ramón González de Zárate, Councillor for the Water Cycle, highlighted that “a permanent exhibition space has been created dedicated to the Séquia Mare and the history and culture of water in Benidorm”. He added that the permanent exhibition “will help us understand the town’s integrated water cycle”.

Following the first visits by schoolchildren, the councillor explained that the aim is to “bring the history of water to younger generations”. However, he stressed that “we want to share this story with everyone, from the youngest to the oldest. The entire facility has been designed with future generations particularly in mind”.

The Councillor for the Water Cycle concluded that “the aim is not only for people to learn about the history of water, but also to understand how to protect its future”.
