The body will continue to be chaired by the mayor and will have five councilors from the corporation and four patrons "of recognized competence and experience in the tourism sector."

The plenary session of Benidorm approves the new composition of the Board of Trustees of Visit Benidorm Foundation

28 August 2023
Pleno ordinario Agosto 2023

The plenary session of Benidorm City Council has been approved today by the majority, with the votes in favor of the government and Vox and the vote against the PSOE, the new composition of the board of trustees of the Benidorm Tourism Foundation of the Valencian Community which, according to the statutes, It will have a maximum of ten members, with Mayor Toni Pérez being the president of said body. The rest of the patrons will be distributed as follows: three councilors from the municipal group of the Popular Party, one councilor from the socialist group, and one mayor from the municipal group Vox.

The four remaining employers, one more than in the past administration, will be appointed because of their "recognized competence and experience about the tourism sector," according to the proposal explained by the municipal spokesperson, Lourdes Caselles.

After plenary approval, the spokespersons of the municipal groups must communicate the names of the councilors who will form part of the Foundation's Board of Trustees within a maximum period of 15 days. Caselles has indicated that with this composition of the Board "we have reduced the number of politicians and increased the number of people of recognized prestige". At that point, she recalled that "the mayor is the one who proposes to the ten employers and, according to the composition of the new corporation, the proposal is correct."

In the same way, the regulation that articulates the evaluation and performance and performance and the professional career of the staff of the City Council has been definitively approved unanimously. The Councilor for Human Resources, Ana Soliveres, has indicated that the approval occurs "once the allegations presented have been resolved" and that the regulation will come into force with the publication in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante (BOP). "It will have economic effects for workers on October 1, 2023," the mayor specified. The City Council will allocate 1,375,000 euros for its development in the last quarter of the year. Soliveres, in addition, has stressed that Benidorm "is the third municipality in the community that will have this regulation, and it has been thanks to the consensus reached between all parties."

In the same session, the awarding of the private loan operation contract for a value of 9,167,141.10 euros was approved, the conclusion of which was approved in the plenary session. There have been six offers from financial institutions that were presented and the contracting table, given the Treasury reports, proposed the one offered by Caixa Rural de Callosa d'En Sarrià, "as the most advantageous of all" as he explained. the Councilor for Finance and Contracts, Aida García Mayor.

Specifically, the entity's offer proposed an 11-year term for the operation with the following conditions: margin on the three-month Euribor plus 18 basis points with quarterly review and a late-payment interest rate of 0%.
Aida García has stressed that the loans are necessary "because we have had to finance many investments that were not ours" and gave as an example "the Levante catenary or the roundabout of the industrial estate among many others, which correspond to the State or the Generalitat. We don't know what's going on, but it seems that the citizens here have to pay for them”. The councilor for finance has insisted that with the pandemic “the City Council allocated more than 30 million to help families, money that was for current spending and investments. And we had to resort to loans to continue with the investments so that the city did not stop.

That is why when the city reopened, it was noticed that it was much more renovated and this is how residents and tourists have valued it, as has been demonstrated”.

In economic matters, the plenary session has also agreed by majority to the out-of-court approval of 14 invoices for a total value of 192,891 euros "which we have to deal with so that suppliers are not affected" stressed Aida García Mayor, who also stressed that "A large part of those bills are for inexcusable basic services." The councilor has remarked that her department "works so that everything takes its timely processing, but sometimes it is inevitable to resort to this figure that contemplates the law so as not to harm suppliers."

Finally, the ratification of the deed of transfer of a 75-square-meter surface on Oviedo y Asturias street, belonging to the Gargallo urbanization, has also gone ahead, so that said plot, in which there is a private staircase but for public use, becomes the property of the City Council once the assignment is accepted by the plenary.
