Benidorm expresses its rejection of the latest sexist crime committed in Cádiz

28 August 2023
Minuto de silencio en el Ayuntamiento de Benidorm.

Benidorm Municipal Corporation has once again observed a minute of silence this Monday to show its rejection of the latest confirmed sexist murder in our country. This is a 63-year-old woman, who was murdered by her partner on August 23 in the province of Cádiz.

Plaza de Sus Majestades los Reyes de España has hosted this silent rally that has been led by the mayor of the city, Toni Pérez, together with other members of the Corporation.

With this there are already 38 women murdered in Spain so far this year by their partners or ex-partners and 1,222 since 2003, the date on which victims of violence against women began to be counted.

The Department of Equality recalls that the City Council has personnel specialized in gender violence to provide free advice to any woman who feels threatened. Likewise, it reiterates once again that the victims have the free telephone number 016, which leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is advisable to remove it from the mobile phone call log. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, and in 52 languages.
