Thousands of people gather to watch the Vulcano fireworks display from different points in the city
The parade of floats and a much-applauded fireworks display culminate the Major Patron Saint Festivities in Benidorm
The Patron Saint Festivities are already looking ahead to 2026 with optimism. A colourful parade of floats and the traditional fireworks display brought the 2025 festivities to a close last night, celebrations that brought thousands of people to the streets to fully enjoy the city's main days of celebration. The mayor, Toni Pérez, and the councilor for Festivities, Mariló Cebreros, congratulated the 2025 queens, Paula Pascual Sánchez and Aitana Pérez Gutiérrez, and their courts of honor, as well as the festival organizers, members of local social clubs, and all the groups and individuals who participated in the various events that took place since Friday afternoon, "further enhancing our festivities and creating unforgettable memories during these days."
The Parade of Floats, featuring nearly 40 groups and associations, set off shortly after 6:00 PM from Bilbao Avenue, making its way along Alcoy, Martínez Alejos, Ruzafa, Venus, Marte, and Almendros streets before concluding on Marqués de Comillas. Marine animals, superheroes, fictional and fairytale characters, and period costumes were among the themes chosen for this parade, where children and adults alike thoroughly enjoyed themselves, throwing candy, confetti, and snacks to the delight of the thousands of people gathered along the route.
As is tradition, the final floats were those of Queens Paula and Aitana and their courts, who received unanimous applause from locals and tourists alike, providing a grand finale to this colourful parade.
The Sargantana association, with its float depicting the seabed, and L’Espardenya, with a Peter Pan float, were among the participants. And Quin Cacau, dressed as seahorses, won first, second, and third prizes for best floats, worth €1,000, €600, and €400, respectively. Meanwhile, the Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals (Commission for the Patron Saint Festivals) left the prize for best handcrafted float, worth €1,200, unawarded.
The firing of a spectacular and resounding fireworks display from Poniente Beach was the perfect finale to the 2025 Patron Saint Festivals. Vulcano Pyrotechnics illuminated the Benidorm sky for nearly twenty minutes before an astonished crowd, who gathered at various points throughout the city to watch the 1,078.61 kilograms of explosive material, with both ground and aerial fireworks, and who then gave the pyrotechnician a long-standing ovation. Visibly moved by everything they had experienced during these days, the 2025 queens, Paula and Aitana, the mayor Toni Pérez and the councillor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, participated in that ovation and conveyed their congratulations to those responsible for Vulcano.
