The Department of Festivities and the Associació de Penyes Verge del Sofratge celebrate this weekend the traditional camping that every year brings together thousands of club members and partygoers on Avenida Juan Pablo II, in El Murtal district, to enjoy a few days of coexistence. Today, Saturday, they shared the "picaeta" with the local authorities, led by the mayor, Toni Pérez, together with the Councilor for Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles, and members of the municipal corporation. The delegation was accompanied by the president of the Associació de Penyes, Adrián Romero, together with the president of the Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals, José Vicente Fuster and the older and younger queens, Aila Merenciano and Chloe D'Hebroodt, respectively.
A total of 222 club members spread over 330 plots and some 4,500 supporters clubs have broken this year's record for their participation in the camp that ends tomorrow afternoon and which takes place in a festive atmosphere and without incidents worth mentioning. The Red Cross health device and a private security device, operating 24 hours a day, have been reinforcing the security device provided by the Local Police.
The 'Coneixement' campaign, developed by the Unit for Prevention of Addictive Behaviors (UPCCA) of the Department of Social Welfare, was also present at the Camp on Saturday morning to raise awareness among supporters of responsible consumption. This year, in addition, the Department of Equality has installed a 'violet point' to promote a party free of harassment.
A wide and varied program loaded with activities, some specific for children and young people takes place throughout the weekend in which there is no shortage of gastronomic contests, music, dance and games.
As in previous years, the City Council and the urban bus concessionaire have arranged a special service to facilitate the arrival of club members at El Murtal site and prevent them, as far as possible, from using their private vehicles.
