A work by the designer Begoña Caballero, it captures the moment when queens and their court of honor dance 'El Peuet' in front of the church

The 2025 Festes Majors Patronals already have its promotional poster. At just after seven in the evening, at Torrejó Square, the mayor, Toni Pérez, the queens Paula Pascual and Aitana Pérez, and the president of the Commission, Susana Martínez, removed the banner bearing the city's 700th Anniversary logo that had been covering one of the city's most closely guarded secrets, the work of Benidorm-based designer Begoña Caballero.

Previously, a parade departed from the Diego Cano Enguera Festes House to La Barqueta venue in Tomás Ortuño, where the image of the apostle was collected and carried on the shoulders of this year's mayoralas. The procession made its way through the city centre, passing through Ruzafa Street, Martínez Alejos Street, and Paseo de Levante, ending in front of El Torrejó.

In addition to those mentioned above, the procession included the Councillor for Festivals, Mariló Cebreros, along with other members of the municipal council; the senator, Agustín Almodóbar; the regional deputies, José Ramón González de Zárate, Manuel Pérez Fenoll, and Mario Villar; courts of honour; and the Association of Verge del Sofratge Penyes, led by its president, Jonathan López.

The work captures one of the moments of the festival, in which queens and ladies dance "el Peuet" in front of the church. An image that, the artist acknowledged in the words read on her behalf (for reasons beyond her control, Caballero was unable to attend the event), particularly "impressed" her and motivated its creation.

After unveiling the poster, Toni Pérez addressed the audience, reminding them that Sant Jaume in Benidorm "is a special day" because "we celebrate our patron saint" and because it showcases the work that "will be the poster, the cover of the book, the booklet, and the major promotion announcing the Festes Majors Patronals."

Regarding the artist, Pérez emphasised her "commitment" to Benidorm and her ability to "capture" the essence of the festival with her brushes. He also emphasised "the tears of emotion" that flowed down Paula and Aitana's faces when they saw it for the first time, and emphasised the essence of a day on which Benidorm not only displays its banner, but also "shows off its patron saint, its queens, and its ladies."

After the presentation, in the Church of Sant Jaume i Santa Anna, the 2025 Standard Bearer and Honorary Mayor, Jaime Llorca, placed the mandatory bow tie on the Commission's banner and received the city's insignia from Toni Pérez. A mass followed.

Finally, once the religious ceremony was over, a "statampeta" was lit in honour of the patron saint at Plaça de Sant Jaume. The queens and ladies then danced "El Peuet," followed by a fireworks display by the Vulcano pyrotechnics. The festivities concluded with a popular street party at Plaça Castelar.
