The Housewives of Benidorm, on their 50th anniversary, bring together more than a hundred neighbors to commemorate International Women's Day
Music and poetry highlight the role of Benidorm women
The auditorium of Casa del Fester hosted a music and poetry recital organised by the Benidorm Housewives Association. The event commemorated International Women's Day, as part of the city's commemorative program promoted by the Department of Equality, and also marked the association's 50th anniversary, which will be celebrated on Monday, the 16th.
The gathering brought together over one hundred members, supporters, and members of the public. Mayor Toni Pérez, Councillor for Equality Ángela Zaragozí, and other members of the municipal council were also in attendance.
The association's president, Vini Pérez, opened the event by welcoming the participants and sharing some of the experiences from the Housewives Association's five decades in Benidorm.
The first part of the event featured the Canfali Choir, from the association directed by Maestro Francisco José Rovira Peretó, who performed ‘Perfidia’, ‘Nabuco’, ‘Dame felicidad’, ‘Torrevieja’, ‘La del Soto del Parral’, ‘Mañana volveré a soñar’, ‘El fallero’, and the anthems of Benidorm and the Valencian Community. During the intermission, poems dedicated to women and their role in society were read.
After the recital, and outside the official program, the attendees enjoyed a tasting of traditional pastries accompanied by local sweet wine, concluding the celebration in a relaxed and festive atmosphere.
