Murcia Tourism visits the Smart Office to implement Benidorm DTI model

14 February 2020
Turismo de la Región de Murcia visita la Smart Office para implantar el modelo Benidorm DTI

This morning the director of the Institute of Tourism in Murcia (ITREM), Juan Francisco Martínez Carrasco, along with the technician of the Innovation Office of such institution Belén Hidalgo Ferrer, have visited the Smart Office of Benidorm City Hall to learn more about the benefits that a municipality obtains when it becomes normalized as a Smart Tourist Destination.

The Coordinator of Benidorm Smart office, Celia Romero, and the director-manager of the Visit Benidorm Foundation, Leire Bilbao, have accompanied the Murcia delegation, explaining the process and operational reality of Smart Office DTI Green, which explores, connects, validates, and transfers a whole series of data that allow an improvement in internal coordination, greater public-private collaboration for the promotion of innovation and the management of smart tourism in a more efficient and decisive way.

Then, Mayor Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Innovation, Aida García Mayor, have received the ITREM delegation and discussed specific issues with the Smart Office in the areas of governance, innovation, technology, accessibility and sustainability, as well as the implementation of the 2030 Agenda - and the SDGs - in the process of transformation towards the Smart Destination Living Lab., as noted in FITUR.

The mayor stressed "his satisfaction with the interest in the work being done from Benidorm and the possibility of implementing it in other destinations." Benidorm, collaborates with SEGITTUR in the process sharing experiences, good practices and pilot projects with all those municipalities and destinations that are interested in implementing their DTI model certified under the UNE 178501 standard that ITREM is interested in moving to the region of Murcia.

Toni Pérez pointed out, finally, that "Benidorm wants to be a national and international reference as a Smart Tourist Destination and is open to collaborate to the fullest with those who opt for this commitment to the future."
