The work, coordinated by the Environment department, is added to the work done by the EMPUJU program in other areas of Benidorm

Municipal brigades clean the Natural Park environment to prevent floods and fires

31 August 2018
Brigadas municipales limpian en el entorno del Parque Natural para prevenir inundaciones e incendios

Troops from the municipal cleaning and maintenance brigades are working on clearing, cleaning and maintaining of the environment of Serra Gelada Natural Park. The objective of the initiative is to prevent the damages that could cause the possible rains that are expected in autumn and avoid the accumulation of vegetal mass that favors a possible fire.

The councilman of Environment, José Ramón González de Zárate, announced that the City Council has taken this decision because "we have the bad luck that the Generalitat Valenciana has not been able to incorporate new troops to the brigade that acts in Serra Gelada and more staff would be needed. " Given the dilemma, Environment has taken the initiative to clear and clean "one of the most emblematic and tourist areas that is frequented daily by tourists who visit Benidorm and the rest of the region."

González de Zárate detailed that this morning the brigadistas have acted in the surroundings of La Cruz "but they are also going to do it in all the entrances. In Cala de Ti Ximo, in La Almadrava and in the entire Natural Park ". The councilor recalled that these tasks of cleaning and clearing, performed by municipal staff, we must add the work done by young people hired by the City through the EMPUJU program through the National Youth Guarantee System. These teams, coordinated from the potable water concessionaires, Hidraqua, carry out their work these days in other points of the city, such as the ravines of El Murtal or Xixo, among others.
