'Mujeres con voz' is born, a regional association of victims of gender violence

Benidorm has been the place chosen to present this Thursday 'Mujeres con voz', a community association constituted by women who have been victims of gender violence. This pioneering partnership was born with a number of objectives, among them, to help women who are immersed in situations of gender violence from their "first person experience", as explained by the president of this group, Margarita Luján, who has presented 'Mujeres con voz' in a press conference with the Equality Councilor of Benidorm, Angela Llorca.
A presentation in which also participated the councilors of Equality of L'Alfàs del Pi, Genoveva Tent; Callosa d'En Sarrià, Rosa Mari Savall; Finestrat, Amelia Mayor; and Polop, Mari France Berenguer, thus showing the support of the municipalities of the Marina Baixa to this new group of women. Likewise, the councilors of Villajoyosa, Pilar Baigorri, have been excused for their agenda; La Nucia, Eva Naranjo; and Altea, Verónica López.
Luján explained that after "a lot of quiet time it is time to be heard, with a single voice", and added that the association "arises from the need to move towards building a society free of gender violence." At this point he has called for judicial changes, the hardening of the penalties for mistreatment and for the victims to be heard when amending the law.
From 'Mujeres con voz', and with the support and collaboration of the councillors of Equality of the municipalities of the region, a 'warm, timely and efficient response will be given to women who are experiencing situations of abuse and do not know how to leave' from that "perverse cycle" and that "attack on the life, safety and dignity of women" is gender violence. Thus, it will accompany and guide the battered women "in the denunciation process or not" respecting their choice; Is going to inform and guide them when they rebuild their life; and they will be given social support to foster new networks and circles of friendships.
The president of 'Mujeres con voz' explained that these women will also be offered training workshops to improve their chances of access to the world of work; and with the help of professionals will be carried out actions of prevention of the macho violence. In addition, for next May 25 has organized a workshop-meeting on associationism of battered women at 18.30 in José Llorca Linares social center.
