Students access an amount of 50 euros per month from January to June for classes in one of the 20 attached study academies

More than 250 Primary and Secondary students benefit of grants for extra support lessons

More than 250 students of the second and third cycle of Primary and Secondary of the public centres of Benidorm are going to benefit from the aid of the City Council for educational reinforcement classes until the end of the course. The Local Government Board (JGL) approved this Monday the proposal of the Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno, for the definitive granting of these grants for a global amount of 76,500 euros.
Moreno explained that "each of the 255 beneficiary students of this aid line corresponds to an amount of 50 euros per month from January to June, an amount that will be paid directly to the academies in which they receive their classes between the 20 Benidorm study centres that have joined the initiative”. This payment will be made in advance in a single payment.

The mayor of Education has highlighted "the good reception that the grants have had both among the students and the academies of Benidorm in this second edition", and has recalled that "their objective is to ensure that no student is left behind in their school progression.
"Through educational support, we seek to contribute to alleviating the possible inequalities caused by the lack of acquisition of knowledge in a normalized way, as well as helping students who have difficulties in achieving academic objectives during the school year," said the counsellor.

For this reason, she has added, "as we already started months ago, it seems inexplicable to us that the Generalitat Valenciana excluded this educational reinforcement from the subsidy program for extracurricular activities promoted by the municipalities."

Moreno stressed that "after the experience of the past school year, and despite the refusal of the Ministry to finance this school reinforcement, the decision of the City Council has always been clear: to continue this program, given its importance because of the result is beneficial for the students.
