The contest has been recognized for “its positive impact on the discovery of artists through live performances”

The mayor attends the Ondas Awards gala for the Special Mention of the Jury at Benidorm Fest

El alcalde asiste a la gala de entrega de los Premios Ondas por la Mención Especial del Jurado al Benidorm Fest

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, participated last night in Barcelona at the Ondas Awards gala on the occasion of the Jury's Special Mention of the Benidorm Fest in the Music category. This contest, organized by RTVE, the Generalitat Valenciana, and the Benidorm City Council to choose the Spanish representative in Eurovision, has been recognized for “the positive impact it has had on the discovery of artists through live performances, incorporating the concept of experience to a traditional concert for television.”

Along with the mayor, the Councilor for Festivals and Events, Jesús Carrobles, also attended this gala of these prestigious awards, presented annually by Radio Barcelona station of Cadena SER; the Minister of Tourism of the Generalitat Valenciana, Nuria Montes; as well as María Eizaguirre, director of Communication and Participation of RTVE, among others.

Toni Pérez has highlighted that this Special Mention from the Jury awarded to Benidorm Fest recognizes that this musical competition has given “unusual and positive exposure to artists with media projection” and that it is “a narrative proposal that has brought to the present both the historic Benidorm Festival as the iconic Eurovision Song Contest.”

Benidorm Fest is already preparing its third edition, which will take place on January 30 and February 1 and 13 of next year. On November 11, the 16 proposals chosen to participate from among the 825 songs presented to the contest were announced, at a gala that took place in Seville.

The Benidorm musical event has already received other awards since it started in January 2021. Thus, in addition to this Special Mention from the Ondas Awards Jury, the Benidorm Fest has also achieved two awards from the FestVal de Vitoria; three Iris Awards from the Television Academy; the City of Benidorm Award; the Valencian Community Tourism Award; the Vocento Special Award for Brand Positioning; the Diversia 2023 award; or the Here TV Special Award, among others.
