The ramp meets accessibility and safety standards
The mayor and the Councilor for Education visit EIM Les Fontanelles and verify the usefulness of the new optional exit
The Municipal Infant School (EIM) Les Fontanelles, located on Avenida del Municipi, has a new alternative exit in the school center, contemplated in the program of actions to improve accesses and environments that Benidorm city council carried out for the resumption of this academic year.
The Mayor Toni Pérez, together with the Education Councilor Maite Moreno, has visited the center and verified the usefulness of the new access ramp that connects the interior playground with the exit at the back of the enclosure and at street level.
Pérez highlighted "the work carried out since 2020" with actions "to improve accesses and environments in 2 municipal nursery schools, 10 Infant Education centers and at the UNED headquarters and the Official Language School" that enable "compliance with the protocols anti Covid "and allow" to maintain physical distance and gain comfort by offering alternative circuits of entry and exit from educational centers "with an investment of more than 170,000 euros.
The action at the EIM Les Fontanelles consisted of the execution of a ramp that bridges the gap between the street and the playground. A work that, said the mayor, "maintains the aesthetics of the complex and the elements, meets accessibility standards and gives continuity to the existing pergola that crosses the playground longitudinally."
The ramp has an 8% slope, has been built in concrete and has been fitted with a metal railing with double handrails at 1.10 meters high.
In addition, the mayor specified, "for greater security", "two protection doors have been installed at each end of the ramp" to "control access to it and as a security component, preventing it from being used for other functions and tasks". At the bottom of the playground, planters have been installed.
The ramp, said the mayor, "will provide service in case of need without altering the current security protocols for which the main access to the center will remain as it is until now."
The ramp will increase the security elements of the enclosure for a possible evacuation by allowing an alternative exit
The EIM Les Fontanelles is located in one of the most populous neighborhoods in the city, Els Tolls ”, and the official First Cycle Early Childhood Education curriculum is taught there. It has a classroom for babies from 4 months; four 1-year classrooms; and four over 2 years.
