The coordinator of this organization explains the lines of action that are being carried out in the region

The Marina Baixa Employment Pact participates in a LABORA conference on employment policies

26 October 2023
El Pacto por el Empleo de la Marina Baixa participa en una jornada de LABORA sobre políticas de empleo

The Faculty of Geography and History of the University of Valencia has hosted this week a debate on employment policies in the territory. Reflections on the Avalem Territori-LABORA program, a meeting of pacts and agreements for employment in the Valencian Community to reflect on the meaning and balance of 'Avalem Territori-GVA' as well as their evolution in the face of the following annuities. The Councilor for Employment, Mónica Gómez, explained that the coordinator of the Territorial Pact for Employment of the Marina Baixa, Milagros Quijorna, was present to inform all the work that has been carried out so far by this organization.

The Benidorm councilor recalled that the Territorial Pact for Employment in the Marina Baixa, signed in March 2023, is chaired by Benidorm and also integrated by the other 17 municipalities in the region, as well as by the UGT union, Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) union and the Valencian Business Confederation (CEV). Its objective is to carry out initiatives aimed at improving the labor insertion of priority groups, as well as promoting specialized professional training and business management capacity.

During her intervention, the coordinator of the Pact in the Marina Baixa stated that, since the beginning of its activity in September, this organization has already developed individual and training guidelines for job placement, especially for priority groups; A survey has been carried out on more than 50 companies in the region to analyze the training and labor needs that are not currently being covered by the labor market; or different workshops have been held and/or scheduled. Likewise, Milagros Quijorna also pointed out that, in this journey, the lack of generational change in some sectors, the lack of knowledge about training, and the shortage of public transportation have been detected as the main weaknesses to improve.

Sponsored by LABORA-GVA and organized by the three participating universities, the Universitat de València, the University of Alicante, and the Universitat Jaume I of Castelló, this event had a total of seven round tables, which, in addition to the Marina Baixa, representatives of the rest of the territorial agreements also participated. It will also serve to write a document about the development of 'Avalem'.
