Benidorm prepares its cemeteries for the festivity of All Saints Day

26 October 2023
Benidorm pone a punto sus cementerios con la vista en la festividad de Todos los Santos

The two cemeteries of Benidorm, Virgen del Sufragio and Sant Jaume, are ready to receive the large influx of people expected on the occasion of 'All Saints' festivity and the days before and after the celebration. The City Council, like every year, is carrying out continuous work to improve the cemeteries, which increases as these dates approach.

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, accompanied by the Councilor for Cemeteries, Jaime Jesús Pérez, and several members of the corporation, visited both facilities this morning, where he highlighted the “specific tasks” that have been carried out in recent days because of the influx of public.”

Both cemeteries will keep their doors open from October 28 to November 2, Wednesday, from eight in the morning until 8 p.m. uninterruptedly “so that there is a sufficient amount of hours and that people can come without crowds and with all the facilities. They are very important dates in Benidorm and the cemeteries receive many visits.”

Pérez highlighted the investments in the improvement of Virgen del Sufragio cemetery and highlighted that the main thing is to “guarantee the burial capacity and undertake actions that go beyond the usual maintenance.”

Thus, as usual, in Virgen del Sufragio cemetery, painting, cleaning, and review of the general condition of the cemetery have been carried out, like pruning of the trees and actions to clean up the pavement.

Regarding Sant Jaume cemetery, Pérez highlighted the investments made in recent years to expand the number of niches and the current perimeter, which will allow the expansion of the cemetery and have new services that are in high demand. The electrical, water, and material replacement systems for users have also been reviewed.

On the other hand, the bus service will be the same as last year. From the 28th to the 30th of this month there will be a one-way service to Sant Jaume cemetery at 9:15 from Bonanza and at 9:30 from the Center and the return will be at noon.

On October 31 and November 2, there will be departure from Bonanza at 10:30, 11:30, 16:30, and 17:30. From the Center the departure will be ten minutes after each Bonanza departure. The return bus will leave the cemetery at 11:00, 12:00, 17:00 and 18:00.

On November 1, the departure from Bonanza will take place every hour from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and the departure from the Center will be ten minutes after each departure from Bonanza. The return bus will leave promptly from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

As for masses, on day 1 one will be celebrated in the Sant Jaume cemetery at 12:30. In the Virgen del Sufragio cemetery the religious ceremony will be at 5 p.m. on November 1.
