Liliana Fernández Steiner and Rodrigo Sebastiá, awarded as best athletes in the V Sport Gala

Liliana Fernández Steiner y Rodrigo Sebastiá, premiados como mejores deportistas en la V Gala del Deporte

The Olympic beach volleyball player Liliana Fernández Steiner and the pilota valenciana player Rodrigo Sebastiá were awarded during the fifth gala of the sport in Benidorm as the best individual athletes of the year 2015 and 2016. Beside them were also nominated the petanque player Alberto Iñigo , the rally driver Miguel Fuster and the beach volleyball player Fran Marco.

The event held at Palau d'Esports, which had a massive influx of public among athletes, clubs, family and friends of the winners, recognized the trajectory of many athletes of the locality in the different base categories and sports disciplines.

In the benjamín category Lucía González (Rhythmic Gymnastics) and Ane Armas (Ski Naútico), in juvenile category David Yarosh (Martial Arts), in child category Julián López (Volleyball), Sergio López (Taekwondo ITF), Kira Dalua (Rhythmic Gymnastics), In cadet category Miguel Marín (Athletics), Paco Juan Navarrete (Pilota Valenciana), Yaiza Rivera (Athletics), in youth category Miguel Juan Llambrich (football), Jose Luis Calvo (Pilota Valenciana), Eliana Aylen González (Volleyball), María Martínez (Tennis), Paula Rodrigo (Synchronized Swimming), and lastly in junior category were Jaime Baldó (Ski Naútico) and Alba Félix Egea (Athletics). In the master category the athletes Rubén Caballero (Athletics) and Emma Segovia (Nautical Ski) were also awarded.

The gala also had an emotional moment with the delivery of special mentions for different reasons. Bienvenido Gómez for a life dedicated to the sport, Cable Ski Benidorm for its 50th anniversary, Club Taekwondo Rivera Benidorm for the promotion of social sport, Municipal School of Pilota for its promotion to school sport and the ex- footballer  Antonio López for his professional trajectory in sport, debuting with the National Football Team and competing in the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

The clubs that were awarded for their sporting achievements were Club Naútico Benidorm, Benidorm Volleyball Club, Benidorm Basketball Club, Benidorm City, Poniente Benidorm Club, Benidorm Rythmic Gymnastics Club, Ball Esportiu Costablanca Balla Club, SFFCV Benidorm FB Club, Doble Amor Center and Club TAE BND.

Finally the local coaches, Daniel García Soczywko and Frank Alós Martínez (Volleyball), Fulgencio Hernández Piñera (Football), Toni Calvo Orozco (Pilota Valenciana), Rafael González Campos (Voley Playa) and Liliana Nikolova and Ana Belén Garrido (Rhythmic Gymnastics).
