The jury awards 'Kyoko' the prize in the documentary category; and 'Ipdentical' and 'Manspreading' share the Valencian short film

'La Guarida', Best National Short Film in the III Skyline Benidorm Film Festival

07 April 2019
‘La Guarida’, Mejor Cortometraje Nacional en el III Skyline Benidorm Film Festival

'La Guarida' by Iago de Soto has received today the Best National Short Film Award of the III Skyline Benidorm Film Festival, as well as the Best Soundtrack. The director of Photography of 'La Guarida', Miguel Leal, has collected the Best Short Film Award-endowed with 550 euros- from the Councilor for Culture, Ana Pellicer, during the closing ceremony that took place in the Salón de Acts of the City Council, in which also participated, among others, the mayor, Toni Pérez; and the festival director, Bea Hernández.

A gala in which nine awards and two special mentions have been distributed, and which has put an end to an edition that has been successful with the public in the projections that have taken place over three days in the Culture Hall of the CAM.

'Kyoko' by Marcos Cabota and Joan Bover have won the 'Best Short Documentary' award, while Marco Huerta's 'Ipdentical' - of which several sequences have been shot in Benidorm - and 'Manspreading' by Abdelatif Hwidar have shared the prize in the category of 'Valencian Short Films'. 'Plat de Pau Pi', by Natxo Fuentes, has been the winner of the Screenplay Contest. These three prizes are endowed with 350 euros.

In addition, the prizes have been awarded to Best Young Short Film -which receives a distribution bonus in charge of the Movibeta platform-; Better Direction; Best Photography; and Better Production. Also, the 25 short films selected and screened during the Skyline have received 200 euros in concept of "payment by selection".

At the closing gala, the mayor highlighted the important link that Benidorm has had with the world of audiovisual production and as a "film set", and has ensured that the city "needed this festival" of short films.

During the four days of the festival, the public was able to enjoy not only the screenings, but also various complementary activities such as workshops or master classes. In addition, until next May 5 the Museum Boca del Calvari hosts the exhibition 'Film Costumes: La sombra de la ley', which shows 27 of the pieces of clothing made for this film by Clara Bilbao and that have earned the Goya 2019 for the Best Costume.
