Benidorm City Council's Department of Equality has installed three interactive panels at the José Llorca Linares and La Torreta community centres, as well as the Mediation Centre, to raise awareness about the reality of gender-based violence. These panels were presented today by the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, who explained that this initiative, part of the program for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, observed on November 25, "aims to ensure that people who visit the community centers truly understand what they know about gender-based violence, using reliable data and figures, and to dispel myths and misconceptions. Everything is based on reliable data and percentages from official studies and statistics."

The panels display questions about gender-based violence, with the answers hidden. Each question includes a movable marker that the viewer must place on the percentage or figure they consider to be accurate or representative of reality. The panel itself warns that “some of the answers may surprise you.” Zaragozí emphasised that “this isn't about giving an awareness talk, but rather about making people aware, through data, of the extent of gender violence in our country.”

The panels stress that all the answers they contain come from “reliable, objective” studies and that they “correct other misleading information about violence against women.” The murals will be in community centres until the end of the month and will then be available to schools that want them “to serve as an additional resource for reaching young people, who are the future of our society,” Zaragozí concluded.
