This morning, Elche Park hosted the Healthy Fair of the ‘Actíva’t Fest’, an initiative organised by Benidorm City Council's Department of Sports, in collaboration with the European Funds Department, aimed at promoting active and healthy ageing among the population over 50. Councillors Javier Jordá and Aida García Mayor, from both departments, participated along with other members of the local government in some of the activities, which ran from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Throughout the morning, several master classes in Zumba, aerobics, and other similar disciplines were held, and several information tents were set up about the program, which will offer routes, activities, and talks, as well as a merchandising point and an exhibition of companies related to well-being, including psychology, food and nutrition, and physiotherapy.

With the slogan ‘Your health, our goal’, the ‘Actíva-t Fest’ initiative is funded by the European Union through the Next Generation EU funds. Specifically, this action is included in the ‘Verde Benidorm’ Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan (PSTD) within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

Jordá noted that this program is a project designed “to promote well-being, health, and physical activity among the over-50 population of Benidorm and its visitors through a varied and free range of sports activities.” These free sports services, the councillor explained, began in January and will continue until the end of April, with around 700 people already registered.

The activities are led by specialised instructors and take place in locations such as the Palau d’Esports, Foietes and El Moralet parks, Serra Gelada, the Séquia Mare park, the Guillermo Amor sports complex, community centres, Tossal de La Cala, and Levante and Poniente beaches.

Javier Jordá noted that the program is “very varied” and includes activities ranging from group walks to swimming, aquagym, Pilates, adapted running, beach pétanque, tai chi, yoga for seniors, light weightlifting, Zumba, dance fitness, adapted paddle tennis, historical hiking, coastal walks, kayaking, and more.

Those interested in participating in these activities can find more information at the designated points: Foietes Park on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 to 11:00, l’Aigüera Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 11:00, El Moralet Park on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:30 to 13:30, the outdoor fitness area in Rincón de Loix on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 to 13:30, and the Palau d’Esports on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 to 12:00.

This ‘Actíva-t Fest’ activity is aimed not only at Benidorm residents over 50 years of age but also at visitors over that age, subject to capacity limits, generally set at 20 people.
