The Generalitat allocates a line of item to carry out activities to promote reading in Benidorm

The Department of Education, Research, Culture and Sports of the Generalitat Valenciana has granted Benidorm a subsidy to carry out activities to promote reading in libraries and public reading agencies. In the case of Benidorm, the subsidy amounts to 1,697.76 euros, according to the publication of the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV) yesterday.
Benidorm applied for these grants after they were called by the Ministry on March 21 and, once the deadline for submitting applications had ended, the assessment commission determined that the city's request met all the requirements to access them.

In that sense, Benidorm has already organized some activities to promote reading, which will continue over time. On the one hand, a Reading Club has been organized in the library which had its first meeting on the 5th. This is an activity aimed at the general public, although limited to capacity with the intention that the group that attends has a commitment and a continuity to create collaborative spaces around the book and reading on different monographic topics that will be proposed by the person who directs the club and shared with the group itself. This activity will take place every other Thursday since October 5 in the multipurpose room of the municipal library starting at 6:30 p.m.

On the other hand, on Saturday a first talk about writing, publishing and books was held. These talks are organized by the association 'Between paragraphs and vignettes' and in their first meeting they addressed the craft of writing and publication for amateur writers. The Departments of Culture and Historical Heritage collaborate in these talks.

With the title 'Charlando entre líneas' the authors Inma Maestre and Miguel Ángel Puerta spoke in Torrejó about their first-person experiences about the world of writing, addressing topics such as inspiration, habits, hobbies, editing, or publication.
