Cerca de 900 alumnos participan en los cursos gratuitos de Benidorm TIC

Benidorm ICT digital literacy program, an action of the Sustainable and Integrative Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI) of Benidorm, has already exceeded 850 students enrolled in its courses. Since it started last year, this educational initiative has held 84 courses in which nearly 900 people have participated.

“In its first year in operation, nearly 900 people have been able to train in new technologies completely free of charge thanks to the Benidorm ICT program,” explained the mayor of Benidorm Toni Pérez. “These high participation figures support our commitment to quality training as a tool to avoid the digital divide among the most vulnerable population.”

Benidorm TIC offers a varied range of training in new technologies: it includes courses of up to 40 hours on topics such as the use of smart mobile phones, basic computing notions, or procedures in electronic administration. The majority of students come from groups with difficulties accessing these digital tools, such as retirees, people with disabilities, or students at risk of exclusion, who thanks to Benidorm ICT have been able to learn.

“With an offer of more than 100 courses, Benidorm TIC is one of the most ambitious media literacy programs in the Valencian Community,” added Mayor Toni Pérez. “With this initiative, co-financed with European ERDF funds, we are promoting faster and safer relationships with the administration, banks, and entities that we use every day in the most vulnerable groups of our city.”

Framed within the Sustainable and Inclusive Urban Development Strategy of Benidorm, Benidorm TIC seeks to “improve the use and quality of information and communication technologies”, promoting “social inclusion and the fight against poverty.” The educational initiative has an investment of 139,939 euros, financed 50% between the Benidorm City Council and the European FEDER funds.
