Exhibition of Personal Defense in charge of the students of the course promoted by Equality

24 November 2022
Exhibición de Defensa Personal.

The students of the Self-Defense for Women course promoted by the Department of Equality and taught by Master Rangel held yesterday, in the Assembly Hall of the City Council, an exhibition of the knowledge acquired in this discipline.

This exhibition is part of the events scheduled throughout the week by the Department to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which is celebrated tomorrow, November 25. The exhibition was attended, among others, by the mayor of Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, and members of the Municipal Corporation.

During the exhibition, the students showed the techniques learned to repel melee attacks with different objects.

The Councilor for Equality stressed that in addition to providing the participants with “defense and control blocking techniques to eliminate fear”, this course “is also a meeting and socialization point for women”. Zaragozí recalled that it is a free course, which is taught at the Palau d'Esports; and she added that all women interested in participating in future editions can go to the Jelena social center, located on Olivos street number 11 or contact the phone number 965860226.

The programming on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women continues this afternoon, at 8:00 p.m. in the Assembly Hall of the City Council, with the screening of a selection of short films from the four editions of the 'Documóvil' project, written, directed and recorded by students from Benidorm Secondary Schools.
