Equality begins on Friday a wide and varied program to celebrate 8-M 'International Women's Day'

This coming Friday, February 24, the Department of Equality of the Benidorm City Council begins an extensive and varied program of events on the occasion of the commemoration of International Women's Day on March 8. A program that has been released today at a press conference by the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí.

Thus, the first of these acts will take place this Friday at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Assembly Hall with the play 'Entre Mujeres, by Amira Producciones. Admission is free until full capacity.

The next date on the program will be March 3, Friday, with the 22nd Meeting of Women of the Marina Baixa, which will take place in Palau Altea. “Each of the participating populations has received 55 invitations. Interested people from Benidorm may request them at the Jelena social center” specified Zaragozí. That day, in Benidorm there will be a conference-concert at the Cultural Center with the title 'Women, music and science'.

A day later, on Saturday the 4th, an Escape Room has been organized in the surroundings of the Cultural Center cafeteria with three sessions in the morning and another three in the afternoon. It will be done in two simultaneous rooms with groups of six people in each pass. To register there is a QR code that gives access to the online registration.

On March 7, the concert "Mujeres compositoras" has been scheduled by the students of the "José Pérez Barceló" Municipal Professional Conservatory of Music, which will take place in the Cultural Center auditorium.

On the 8th, International Women's Day will begin at 10 in the morning with the placement of the commemorative banner on the balcony of the Town Hall. At 12 noon the exhibition 'Myself' by the illustrator Sandra Prim will open, which will be in the Espai d'Art of the City Council until March 17. The Anémona association has organized a community lunch at the Yacht Club and registration can be done at the association's own headquarters. At 5:00 p.m. Mujeres 2000 programmed the play 'Laughter is the best medicine' at the La Torreta social center and at 6:30 p.m. the Housewives association prepared the 'Tribute to Women of Benidorm' at the Casa del Fester ' of poetry and song.

The following day there will be a conference entitled 'Woman, work and health' by Dr. Eva Ibeas at Casa del Fester at 7:00 p.m. On March 10 at 8:00 p.m. the 'Music for Women' concert will take place in the City Hall Assembly Hall and on Saturday 11 a self-defense workshop has been organized at the Palau d'Esports l'Illa from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

The events will conclude on March 20 with the Red Cross exhibition 'Women of the world', in which the Department of Equality collaborates. It will be in the Espai d'Art of the Town Hall and can be visited until March 31.

"We completed a month with all kinds of activities to celebrate this event, with a very complete and commemorative program for the dates we are on," said the councilor. Zaragozí highlighted that the programming "has taken a lot of time and coordination", but she explained that it has succeeded "because we work with the rest of the councils and we are open to all the proposals that they want to make to us". Finally, the councillor added that her department also collaborates, outside of programming, with the IES Pere María Orts in the Solidarity Course that is held on 7-M at 12 noon.
