The budget for this new social center amounts to 1,994,770 euros and has an investment from FEDER funds of almost one million euros.
The EDUSI of Benidorm will improve Els Tolls with an innovative Social Mediation Center
A delegation headed by the mayor of Benidorm Toni Pérez, with the presence of neighborhood associations, property administrators, and other groups from the sociocultural fabric of Els Tolls have visited today the site of the future Benidorm Social Mediation Center. This action, framed within the city's Sustainable and Integrating Development Strategy, will create a new space for social care in Avenida Portugal.
“Els Tolls has been completely changed and regenerated with the intervention of the EDUSI of Benidorm. And that intervention continues with the work of the Social Mediation Center. An action, which has a European contribution of 50% of the cost, and which is necessary for all its aspects," said the mayor Toni Pérez, who added that "it is a building dedicated to social care, directly to the residents and neighbors, which will make the Benidorm City Council have a greater presence in Els Tolls and will continue to improve the quality of life of the residents.”
With an investment of around two million euros, co-financed by European FEDER funds, the new building will house the social mediation service, a free service that helps manage and resolve conflicts between neighbors to prevent disputes from ending up in court. “The new center has enough space for it to go beyond the mediation required by the neighbors. The neighborhood's own needs will also be addressed, such as participation, training, or being a meeting point for neighbors," added the mayor Toni Pérez. "As in the rest of the actions in Els Tolls, the alliance with the representatives of the associations that accompany us today was essential to obtain the European investment from the EDUSI of Benidorm."
The design of this future social care space stands out: the project includes an innovative building of more than 666 square meters designed in white concrete. The two-story building will include customer service offices, a training room, meeting rooms, and waiting and citizen service areas. The professor emeritus of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Ignacio Vicens, is the architect who signs this project, which will provide a new space for the mediation service that started the consistory last March.
"The location of this new building on Avenida Portugal continues our commitment to revitalizing Els Tolls by creating more pleasant, comfortable, and accessible public spaces for our neighbors," said the mayor Toni Pérez, who recalled that "through EDUSI, we have invested more than two million euros to renew the sidewalks, the public supply network and ensure the accessibility of this neighborhood.”
The works to improve mobility and accessibility, which ended last month, "are being complemented by a new renaturation project, planting new trees and creating more shaded areas to continue transforming Els Tolls."
With a total budget of 1,914,770 euros, of which the European Union provides 50% of the financing through FEDER funds, the Municipal Mediation Social Center joins the varied offer of social care spaces in Benidorm. This new building, which follows the line of improvement of public services, responds to Line of Action 11 of the EDUSI Benidorm that seeks the "conditioning and improvement of the endowments for social care, labor insertion and citizen participation, optimizing the management and the use of public spaces.”
