The facilities will reopen to the public on May 25, with the limitations set by the Government of Spain

The Central Library reactivates the book loan service tomorrow by appointment

10 May 2020
La Biblioteca Central reactiva mañana el servicio de préstamo de libros mediante cita previa

Coinciding with the start of Phase 1 of the restrictions lifting plan, Benidorm Central Library reactivates the book loan service tomorrow, Monday, the 11th, which will be carried out by prior appointment, as reported by the mayor, Toni Pérez. In addition, bibliographic advisory service will also be provided to those students who require it.

In this way, users can request one or more works through WhatsApp (628128849), email (library@benidorm.org) or phone (965855098), and once the requested books are located, users will be quoted so that they can pick them up at library. Bibliographic advice will also be done through these channels.

Toni Pérez explained that "for prevention and health security, as established by Order SND / 399/2020 issued yesterday by the Government of Spain, the works consulted or returned by users will be deposited in a separate place and separated from each other during at least 14 days ”.

Regarding the reopening of the library network to the public, the mayor pointed out “it will be carried out progressively once the facilities have been adapted to guarantee the hygiene and health safety measures of workers and users, and always attending to the guidelines established by the Government of Spain regarding gauging and use of dependencies and materials ”.

Thus, it is planned that the Central Library, located at Plaza SS.MM. los Reyes de España, open to the public on May 25 from 09:00 to 15:00 from Monday to Friday; while Rincón and Europea libraries will do so on June 1 with hours from 09:00 to 14:00.

This reopening will be marked by the reduction in capacity, which will be limited to one third. In addition, users will be able to stay in the library facilities for a maximum of one hour, during which time they will be able to use the return, loan and room reading services. However, at first, free access to the collection will not be allowed, nor the use of computers and the press and newspaper library services. Inside the facilities, social distancing will be respected and the necessary signaling and security elements will be placed.

Likewise, the mayor announced that "work is being done to bring families closer to social networks through activities that are usually scheduled at the Central Library, such as storytelling or workshops, so that they can enjoy this cultural offer from their addresses ”.
