The Urban Planning Councilor explains that the liquidation will allow the construction of this sports facility to continue
Caselles: "The athletics track project is pending the liquidation of the PRI's Poniente facilities"

Benidorm City Councillor for Urban Planning, Lourdes Caselles, explained that "the project for the planned athletics track in Poniente is pending the liquidation of the PRI (Comprehensive Public Works Reform Plan) presented by the company Villaviñas SL." Caselles responded to a press release by the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party), clarifying that "the liquidation of the PRI will allow the construction of this sports facility to move forward."
As the councillor noted, the PRI establishes the compensation that the City Council has to receive for the increase in buildable area granted to a plot. This compensation can be achieved through the transfer of public works land, cash payments, or the execution of social interest projects. In the case of this public works PRI in Poniente, the latter option was chosen, with the regeneration of the Racó de l'Infern quarry and the athletics track being established as social interest projects.
Regarding this last infrastructure, the company "has already carried out the required actions to prepare the plot that will house the athletics track," so the next step is the execution project that will be obtained after the liquidation of the PRI (Spanish Nationalist Party). Once this project is completed, the construction of the track will be put out to tender.
"Work is underway to ensure the liquidation of the PRI (Spanish Nationalist Party) is completed as soon as possible to give the green light to the athletics track, a necessary infrastructure that will complete Benidorm's network of sports facilities," he added.
Caselles stated that "we are pleased to see that the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) now also considers this infrastructure key and important, especially after its full opposition to the PRI (Spanish Nationalist Party), which allowed the adaptation of the plot on which the athletics track will be built."
