Carmen Álvarez exhibits ‘The Neighborhood’ at Benidorm City Hall’s Espai d’Art

The Espai d’Art Ajuntament, located in the entrance hall of Benidorm City Hall, is hosting the photography exhibition ‘The Neighbourhood’ from this Wednesday. Carmen Álvarez's photographic essay reflects her perspective on Rincón de Loix as a tourist destination. The city’s mayor, Toni Pérez, the Councillor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, and other members of the local council accompanied the artist on an exhibition tour, sharing impressions, details, and personal experiences related to some of the places featured in the photographs.

According to Carmen Álvarez, the images in the exhibition aim to show how tourism shapes urban environments in which the city becomes a backdrop, and to encourage reflection on how the tourism model transforms leisure into a standardised product.
