Benidorm celebra el viernes el Día Mundial de la RCP con una jornada gratuita y abierta a toda la ciudadanía

The event will take place in Plaza de la Hispanidad from 10 am to 2 pm and aims to teach the public basic CPR techniques

Benidorm will mark World Restart a Heart Day on Friday, 16 October, with a free training and practice event open to the entire community. The initiative, ‘Benidorm Beats for Life’, will teach residents and visitors basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques and how to respond in the event of a cardiac arrest. The free event is organised by Benidorm City Council’s Department of Health and the company ‘Forjando Salvavidas’. It will take place in Plaza de la Hispanidad from 10 am to 2 pm, and no prior registration is required.

Ana Pellicer, Councillor for Health, explained that residents and visitors will be able to visit the designated areas during the event “to learn and practise basic CPR techniques on manikins in a practical, simple and accessible way”. No medical knowledge or previous experience is required to take part.

The initiative aims to raise public awareness of the importance of recognising a cardiac arrest and acting quickly while waiting for emergency services to arrive. “In these situations, the first few minutes are crucial, and the actions of those present can make all the difference,” Pellicer said.

For its part, ‘Forjando Salvavidas’ highlighted the importance of bringing first-aid training into public spaces and making it possible for “anyone to acquire basic skills that can help save a life”. “Knowing how to act in the first few minutes can make all the difference. That is why we want to bring CPR into public spaces, so that anyone can learn and practise these techniques simply,” the company stated.

The event is aimed at the whole community, including children and young people, older people, associations, shopkeepers and anyone wishing to learn a skill that could prove vital in an emergency.
