Coinciding with the ‘International Day for the Elimination of Gender Violence’, the Department of Equality is working on the 3rd edition of ‘Documóvil’

Benidorm will screen in the IES the 'shorts' on gender violence filmed by the students

24 November 2020
Benidorm projectarà en els IES els 'curts' sobre violència de gènere rodats pel mateix alumnat...

The Secondary Education Centers (IES) in Benidorm will screen the ten short films on gender violence shot by the city's students themselves in the first two editions of Documóvil, "a project of the Department of Equality with which it is intended to make visible and prevent on this social scourge through the gaze and perspective of the youngest ”, as the councillor of the area, Ángela Zaragozí, has indicated.

The 10 short films have already been delivered to the Department of Education, directed by Maite Moreno, for dissemination among secondary schools in Benidorm, coinciding with the commemoration tomorrow, November 25, of the International Day for the Elimination of Gender Violence '. In the same way, information on the third edition of 'Documóvil', which is already being worked on, has been transferred to educational centers.

Zaragozí recalled that ‘Documóvil’ project “combines theoretical training in gender equality and prevention with audiovisual training”; and has added that "all the theoretical and practical contents are later reflected in the short films that the students themselves create, script, shoot and perform and that we annually project in an event organized by the Department of Equality". Now, "these short films are going to reach the educational centers," she pointed out.

On the other hand, the municipal responsible for Equality has reported on "the events that this year have been programmed on the occasion of the 'International Day for the Elimination of Gender Violence', the commemoration of which has had to be adapted to the new circumstances derived from the pandemic, without this implying giving up the visibility of a social scourge that so far this year has resulted in 41 murdered women ”.

Thus, tomorrow Wednesday at 10.00 am the commemorative banner of 25-N will be displayed on the balcony of the City Hall, and later a training session on 'Equality and feminism' will be held in the Assembly Hall for the associations attached to the Department of Equality . In addition, Benidorm is expected to participate in the virtual reading of the manifesto drawn up by the Regional Council for Equality; and that at 12 noon the minute of silence called by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) is seconded.

The commemoration of this anniversary will also reach three of the most emblematic points of the city, El Castell, El Tossal de La Cala and the City Hall, which will light up in purple to raise awareness and sensitize about gender violence.
