Included in the Generalitat's 'Plan Viu' (Viu Plan), the development represents an investment of 12 million euros, of which 4 million come from Europe

Benidorm will issue the building permit on Monday for the construction of 117 social housing units in Poniente

Benidorm dará el lunes la licencia de obra para construir 117 viviendas sociales en Poniente

The Local Government Board (LGB) of Benidorm City Council will approve on Monday the construction permit for 117 social housing units in Poniente area; a project included in the "Viu Plan" of the Ministry of Social Services, Equality, and Housing. This was announced today by the mayor, Toni Pérez, who emphasised that "finally, 26 more homes than originally planned will be built on the municipal plot of land that the City Council has made available to the Ministry."

Toni Pérez emphasised that "this increase in the number of homes is, without a doubt, tremendous news for the people of Benidorm, and especially for the young population, who will be the main beneficiaries of this public rental housing development."

As stated in the basic project, in addition to the 117 homes, the construction of parking and storage rooms is also planned, in an area that "is undergoing rapid expansion and development and is close to all types of public services, such as education and healthcare, as well as two of our most important environmental resources: El Moralet Park and our Poniente beach."

The works will involve an investment of approximately €12 million, four of which come from European funds, as reported at the time by First Vice President and Regional Minister Susana Camarero. The construction period is 24 months, and Redes 2 Promotora-Inversiones 2018 IV S.L.U. is carrying out the work. (Culmia).

Toni Pérez indicated that "according to what we have received from the Regional Ministry's Housing Department, the intention is for construction of the housing block to begin as soon as possible."

Finally, the mayor noted that "this development is the first to be launched in the city in nearly 20 years, which confirms that, fortunately, at the regional level, there has been a change in housing policy after two terms of inaction." "It was a PP government in the Generalitat," he noted, "that built a block of rental housing for young people and another for seniors in La Cala, which were delivered in 2009, and it is once again a government from the same party that is promoting 117 public housing units in our city."
