The new building will house the innovative mediation service of the Benidorm City Council, which seeks to resolve conflicts between neighbors
Benidorm will have a pioneer Municipal Mediation Center in social care
Benidorm Local Government Board has today approved the project for the future municipal mediation center, a space with social use framed in the Sustainable and Integrative Urban Development Strategy. "With this new building, which will be located in Els Tolls neighborhood, we continue to expand the spaces for social care in Benidorm," explained Mayor Toni Pérez.
"The Municipal Mediation Center will house completely free basic services for the residents of Benidorm, seeking, among other things, to manage and resolve conflicts between neighbors to prevent disputes from ending up in court," added the mayor, who clarifies that "the building, with Its more than 600 square meters will improve the provision of services in the social sphere of the City Council and will help revitalize this neighborhood of the EDUSI action area.”
The renowned architect Ignacio Vicens, who signs buildings such as the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Navarra, also signs the building approved today. Located on Avenida de Portugal, the innovative building has more than 666 square meters arranged on two floors. It includes attention offices, a training room, meeting rooms, and waiting areas, and citizen attention, to improve the provision of the service in an enclave located in the residential area of Benidorm.
The innovative municipal mediation service began operating in March of last year through the Department of Social Welfare. In this voluntary and free process, qualified workers from the town hall deal with conflicts between neighbors to reach a beneficial agreement for both parties. In this way, the neighbors receive an impartial solution and avoid overloading the legal administration. Thanks to today's approval of the Local Government Board, this service will have an innovative and modern building to improve comfort and the provision of this social care channel.
The Social Center for Municipal Mediation has a budget of 1,914,770 euros and receives 50% of the European FEDER funds through the Benidorm EDUSI. The approved project, which seeks to improve public services, is included in the eleventh line of action of the EDUSI, which aims to "improve and condition the provisions for social care, job placement, and citizen participation, optimizing the management and use of public spaces.
